GLADIUS's 10 TRIALS

All Progress on the trials can be found on the control sheet. Click here to view the control sheet.

Trial Preparation & Notes:

  • The trials begin the day you join the clan.

  • You will have 10 days to complete them.

  • You must complete G1 first, and G1 last (and you must wait for Elder approval before completing G10). Otherwise, trials may be completed trials in any order.

  • Remember that all the Elders are here to help.

  • We all want you to succeed, so please ask in-game if you need clarification on anything at any time.

  • Also consult the Centum Gladius Sample Band Document for helpful tips and advise for each trial.

  • Trialists are expected to have heroes up during trials, and to opt in for all wars during the trial period.  Please discuss in advance with a co-leader if you need to opt out for any reason.

  • Trialists who miss any war attacks during their trials will automatically fail trials (but may retry trials with permission of a co-leader+).

  • During trials, trialists must post all attacks on BAND and receive Elder approval before attacking.

Reading the Rules:

  • Before participating in war, click here to read the  Gladius War Rules and become familiar with our tactics.

Here in Gladius we have 4 different types of trials: "Introduction", "Farming", "War" and "Improvement"

"INTRODUCTION" Trials

 Challenge G1: Gladius Welcome

Challenge G1(a) - Tell Us You're Starting!

  • Within 24 hours of joining take screenshots of your player profile showing your Gold Grab and War Hero achievements.

  • Post these screenshots to the Gladius Trials Board with the comment: "I'm starting my trials!"

Challenge G1(b) - Introducing Yourself

On the Gladius Members Board* post a brief introduction including:

  • Your Name

  • Age

  • Location

  • Something about yourself

  • A clash phobia (so we can fix it!)

  • If you could be any troop, what would you be and why?

*Please Note: this is the only trial post that should be made on the Gladius Members Board, all other trial posts should be made on the Gladius Trials Board.

Challenge G2: Prepare Yourself

Challenge G2(a) - War Base

  • During your first Preparation Day as a Gladius member, edit your War Base to include:

    • A centralized and unlureable clan castle

    • Centralized heroes

  • It is also strong suggested you take the placement of certain traps and defenses into account:

    • Giant Bomb: These should be placed in pairs with lots of possible locations for them around the base as to not allow the enemy to pick out their exact location. In pairs these traps kill Hogs within their range immediately when they both go off at the same time.

    • Air Defenses: These defenses should be places at least within the second layer of the base as to keep the attacker from quickly disposing of them and leaving your base vulnerable to a full air raid.

    • Hidden Teslas: Well placed hidden teslas can ruin a GoWiPe raid by either distracting the golems and leading them astray, or by killing the pekka quickly before it reaches the town hall.

  • To receive advice, post your base on the Gladius War Board with the clan castle selected.

  • After the base has been edited to meet the above requirements, post a screenshot of the saved base with the clan castle selected and its range visible to the Gladius Trials Board.

Challenge G2(b) - War Base Request

  • During your first Preparation Day as a Gladius member, edit your War Base Request to best protect your base.  You may look around at other requests of long time members and graduates to see what is the best troop composition at that time and decide for yourself what troops you want in your clan castle. It is best to include at least one high HP troop with the introduction of the poison spell.

  • Troop Descriptions:

    • Dragons: High health means it can't be taken out by a lightning or poison spell, and does splash damage to both air and ground targets.

    • Balloons: High damage per shot and flying makes this troop effective against GoWiPe raids, but not recommended for bases attacked frequently by dragons.

    • Lava Hound: Has very high HP that becomes a great distraction for the enemy's Archer Queen and does significant damage and distraction when it pops and the Pups are released. Not reccomended for high TH9s as raiders can completely ignore it as the Hound has extremely low DPS.

    • Once you have completed the trial, post a screenshot of the War Map with your base selected and request text visible to the Gladius Trials Board.

Challenge G2(c) - Using ClashTrack

  • Soon after war has been declared, ClashTrack will be set-up and clan mail sent out to notify everyone.

  • Please be familiar with the war rules by reading through them on the "War Headquarters" page.

  • All war attacks must be approved before attacking by an Elder or Co. Any attack without approval will not count towards the war trials.

  • Post your target on War Band for advice and approval.

  • For this trial you will need to call/update your targets on ClashTrack.

  • To call a base, find an available base within your range and click "Call" to  reserve it.

  • Once your attack has been completed you can click on the assignment and choose the stars won & key in the percentage achieved.

  • Once you have updated ClashTrack for your second attack, take a screenshot of both of your attacks.

  • Post the screenshot to the Gladius Trials Board once this trial has been completed.

Challenge G2(d) - War Weights

  • Your war weight determines your position on the war map, and help determine clan matchups in clan wars.  War weight is based on gold-based upgrades and hero levels.

  • War weights range from 0 for TH1 to slightly over 100K for max TH11.  Typical war weights for Gladius are 53K - 80K.

  • Each defensive building level adds a different amount to your war weight.

  • Because your war weight determines your position on the war map, war-focused players should undertake defensive upgrades very cautiously, as they both move you up the war map and increase the level of opponent the clan faces.

  • As a result, Gladius strongly encourages the TH8.5 / TH9.5 strategy - where offensive upgrades are undertaken before the majority of defensive upgrades.

  • It should be noted that X-Bows and Inferno Towers have the largest impact of any defensive buildings on war weights, so they should be built only once you are certain you are ready to move up the war map.

  • There are two methods to determine war weight:

  1. Gold Storages - During war day, your gold storages and town hall will contain a certain amount of gold. The sum of these is your war weight.  If all of your gold storages are Lv11, you may look at the level of gold in one storage and multiply by 5 (4 storages + TH).  If any storage is a lower level, you will need to calculate your war weight by adding up the gold in each storage and your town hall individually.

  2. Replays - When attacked by an opponent of the same town hall level as you, the gold available at the start of the replay is your war weight.

  • During war day or after war ends, determine your war weight.

  • Post your war weight to the Gladius Trials Board with a screenshot of the method you used to calculate your war weight (a screenshot of the info screen of a gold storage, or a screenshot of the start of a defensive replay). In addition to the screenshot, be sure to include in the text of the post (or in a comment) "My war weight is X"

"FARMING" Trials

Challenge G3: Magic Potion

  • Collect 1,000,000 Elixir within ONE HOUR, including troop training costs.

  • Gem usage, in any form, is prohibited for this challenge.

  • Boosted Barracks, Spell Factory, Heroes or Mines are prohibited for this challenge.

  • The one hour will be based on upgrades within the game.

  • Going over one hour will result in a fail.

  • To begin this trial:

  1. Empty your Elixir Pumps and Clan Castle War Loot.

  2. Take a screenshot of the ENTIRE base that shows both your gem and elixir count.

  3. IMMEDIATELY take a second screenshot of the timer inside the lab, or a closeup of an upgrade that is under 24 hours remaining. (If nothing is available under 24 hours and your lab is not in use, consider upgrading a trap to begin.)

  • Before ONE HOUR is up, take two more screenshots as in steps 2 and 3 above.

  • Once all four screenshots have been taken and you have completed the trial, post them to the Gladius Trials Board.

  • If your elixir storages are full or you don't have any upgrades left with a timer, please discuss with an Elder before beginning this trial.  Using any method of counting elixir other than the screenshots listed above requires prior approval from an Elder or above.

  • If you do not have any lab upgrades that can be done, and there are no upgrades under 24 hours, and there are no traps to upgrade, please discuss with an Elder before beginning this trial.  Using any method of counting time other than the screenshots listed above requires prior approval from an Elder or above.
